Models are well known for being good-looking wearing fashionable clothes and other extravagant accessories. Models are also famous for they luxurious lifestyle. But to make high income, top models do not rely just on their well-shaped bodies and pretty aces. Those alone aren’t enough assets without a third party to represent them and offer them the opportunity to sell their image to the public. That third party is known as modeling agency.
Modeling agencies in general will present the models to designers, photographers, and PR agencies that need models’ services. The other responsibilities of the agencies are to send them to castings, book them jobs, and arrange billing and payment details for the models. Model should only be focused on the modeling jobs they get, be fit and healthy and worry about nothing else.
Good agencies not only will deal with all the above but will also invest money to develop their models’ skills further, increase their confidence so they can get even better looks and jobs. In the end of the day modelling is about image and a great or unique image means more money for both models and agencies.
The booking division of a typical model agency handles models bookings talent for productions of any kind such as fashion shows, showrooms, TV commercials, corporate events, editorials etc. The booking division always tries to promote the models as much as possible, build relationships and networks that will later guarantee some sort of work. Satisfying their clients’ needs is paramount.
Modeling agencies need new faces to represented them on a regular basis. The process of constantly looking for new models is different from agency to agency but in all cases it is called scouting. Small agencies may use on-street campaigns while larger agencies have afford organising open days for new faces regularly where any interested male or female model can go to the agency. Then the agency’s bookers will assess the models’ talents and decide whether to offer them a contract or not.
After the casting, a new model will sign a contractual agreement with the agency for a mimited period of time, usually 2-3 years. The typical commission for the agency ranges between 10 to 30% depending on the job and the rest is for the model. The contract can be exclusive or non-exclusive depending on the potential and availability of each model.
